Cannabidiol (CBD) – What It Is And Everything You Need To Know

HEMP Products » Blog » Cannabidiol (CBD) – What It Is And Everything You Need To Know

CBD seems to be the rage these days, and we mean it in the literal sense. It is now everywhere and in everything from lattes infused with CBD to CBD beauty products. But, unfortunately, as CBD began to spread, so did the confusion on what it was, who it is for, and the benefits. Well, one thing is for sure, the CBD industry is here to stay, and we will tell you why.

CBD And Why It Is Popular

CBD is rightfully the “hottest” thing on the health and wellness market right now, and everyone wants in on the action. As a result, the cannabis industry has seen unprecedented growth in the past decade. It is currently valued at $92 billion, and we expect it to grow to $160 billion in 2025.

CBD, also known as the “medical cannabinoid” in the cannabis plant. It is one of the two most important active ingredients in the plant and the only one that has no psychoactive side effects, unlike the delta-9-tetrahydrocannabinol (THC). CBD benefits are revolutionary and are now actively recommended and used in the medical field to relieve anesthetizing pain, including preventing epileptic seizures.

 The History Of CBD

CBD is a cannabinoid – an active ingredient in the cannabis plant.  The THC is the second cannabinoid in terms of its average concentration level in cannabis plants. Although its use dates back to 2737 BC in the Chinese dynasty, the first modern scientific discovery was made by British chemist Robert S. Cahn when he found the partial structure of Cannabinol (CBN). In 1942 American chemist Roger Adams was able to isolate and identify Cannabidiol (CBD) molecule successfully.

 The Medical Aspect

In the 1990s, studies were conducted worldwide, including the laboratories of Prof. Lumiere Human and Prof. Raphael Meshulam here in Israel.  The two brilliant scientists discovered a system of neural receptors in the body called the endocannabinoid system (ECS)  then understood how active substances in medical marijuana cannabis worked on various vital systems in the human gut. This discovery was revolutionary and has contributed immeasurably to the study of medical cannabis. As a result, cannabis today exists in a way that focuses on CBD as an essential therapeutic base not only in combination with THC and other cannabinoids but exclusively.

Is CBD Legal?

In the U.S, 36 states and DC have legalized the use of medical marijuana, 14 states have only allowed the use of CBD extracts. Many European countries have legalized the use of CBD to some degree, except for Slovakia. Countries like Austria allow only 0.3% of THC in CBD products. Products that contain high-quality CBD and manufactured by the global GMP standard are considered a “self-prescription drug” by millions worldwide and are used today as a natural treatment for anything and everything.

The basis of medical cannabis – how can CBD help you too?

CBD is for everyone! If you are hesitant to onboard the CBD train because you might get ‘’high’’, CBD has non-psychoactive effects like euphoria. However, you must take CBD under medical supervision because you may not know how your body will react to it.

Here Is How It Works

We all have an endocannabinoid system (ECS). There are endocannabinoid receptors in your brain that interact with CBD. When these receptors receive chemical signals from the CBD, they create anti-inflammatory effects that give pain relief. The anesthetic effect is created due to the impact of CBD on the nervous receptor system derived from its part of the endocannabinoid system in the human body located in the central nervous system. This effect alleviates the nervous sensation, but without the psychoactive properties, but while applying a gentle “disconnect” that makes severe pains feel numb. Sometimes it can cause the complete disappearance of moderate and chronic pain.

The medical benefits of CBD aren’t all talk, and we have the stats to prove. For example, a study conducted in 2016 tested the pain relief effects of CBD on lab rats. The researchers applied CBD gel on the rats for four consecutive days. The researchers put the rats into two groups; one group was given 0.6 to 3.1 milligrams of CBD oil while they administered 6.2 – 62.3 milligrams to rats in the other group. The results showed a significant improvement in the overall pain of the rats. However, rats given higher doses of CBD saw a significant health improvement, while the rats had low doses and did not see any improvements in pain and swelling.

CBD Anti-Inflammation – The foundation of most modern CBD medicine

The anti-inflammatory (antiseptic) activity of CBD is particularly significant and even equivalent to certain non-natural dedicated drugs. This antiseptic effect combines intense antiviral, anti-inflammatory, and antifungal activity, preventing inflammation of various joints. It also treats cases of inflammation that promote symptoms in a variety of diseases such as multiple sclerosis, Alzheimer’s, and Parkinson’s.

The anti-inflammatory effect of CBD

CBD has a “double” effect consisting of the warming of septic cells present in the bloodstream while assisting the body’s immune system in the increased production of natural antibodies to fight infection. Extensive studies have found patients who consumed CBD products demonstrated higher immunity to disease outbreaks. They also show a much higher efficacy of biologically coping with diseases and other infections than control groups not consuming CBD at all.

CBD for the treatment of anxiety, post-trauma, and depression – the cure for mental symptoms

The use of CBD in treatments of mental health, especially in treating post-traumatic stress disorder and anxiety, is gaining notoriety. CBD has a calming and therapeutic effect, utterly different from that of psychoactive THC

The secretion of positive hormones into the body balances the rate of blood flow in different parts of the brain, especially in the 5-HT1A neurotransmitters responsible for the uptake and production of serotonin, one of the hormones associated with a stable mood and overall positive feeling.

Many doctors in the US consider this difference to be a vital therapeutic element that can replace medication and deal with mental stress, tension, and anxiety.

The production process of our organic CBD – why is “organic” and “quality” important at all?

We at Happy Garden make sure that all plants are grown organically in a laboratory environment combining the most evolving technologies in the world. We take pride in being a high-grade hemp facility and control the entire process from growth, formulation, and production. All production processes meet strict GMP and 7 ISO standards. We ensure the quality of the crop, preservation, and the production process – until we deliver it to you.

We are committed to producing purified CBD and focus on creating the perfect experience for you. We organically extract CBD and refine it to remove all the typical flavors and viscosity of cannabis.

For us, CBD is in line with the world. However, we know that inaccurate growth and unprofessional conservation can damage its virtues – therefore, our commitment to investing every effort in its development, conservation, and accessibility to the public.

Consumers are used to hearing that everything is “quality” or “organic” and mostly associate it with one marketing element or another. However, in the CBD industry, the word “organic” is not a marketing tag from a marketing source but reflects the production process and product quality.

So, how is it measured, and what does it mean at all for the consumer?

First of all, it is essential to note that many products in the global market say “CBD oil,” but this does not mean they contain CBD. Many so-called CBD products are actually  “hemp oil,” “hemp solids,” “hemp fats.” Continuously research so you don’t fall victim to marketing lies that the company formulates to sell you the product.  Our product line only contains CBD as an active ingredient, without any other elements from the cannabis plant. The consumer needs to look for products containing only CBD or some THC levels in terms of quality.

Which CBD products (CBD oil or CBD cream) can suit me?

If you are about to purchase CBD products, you should do so out of an understanding of their purpose. It is important to understand that these are not “leisure” products but products with a therapeutic benefit, and you should use them wisely and responsibly. Therefore, to understand whether CBD is suitable for you or not, you should first understand the purpose of your use.

By far, the most common form of CBD consumed is the CBD tincture. Other forms include CBD gummies, pills, and topicals(creams, lotions, etc.).

Things To Keep In Mind When Buying CBD Products

Many companies are trying to pass fake products like CBD, so always check the label because stats show that over 50% of companies mislabel their products or indicate the THC levels in their products. Lastly, find out the ratio between CBD and THC in the product. CBD products with higher levels of CBD than THC are great for therapeutic effects. On the other hand, products with higher levels of THC work better for acute pain.
