Age restrictions in the use of cannabidiol

The question of the age limit for the use of CBD is divided into two types – The minimum age for purchase and the minimum age for use. Regarding the matter of purchase, the issue varies from country to country in the world, but in most places it is illegal to purchase CBD-based products under the age of 18. In many places around the world, a medical license or prescription is also required to purchase CBD-based products.

Regarding the matter of use, there are several things to consider. The use of CBD-based oils can be effective for children, but doctors recommend using isolated products (in which the CBD is separated from the rest of the components of the plant, mainly the THC component known to alter consciousness). Full spectrum products are less recommended.

Studies regarding the use of CBD in general and for children in particular are still in progress, but it should be noted that there are CBD-based medications that have been approved by the American Food and Drug Administration (FDA), including Epidiolex, which is intended for the treatment of epilepsy, and according to the standard, it can also be used for children over the age of 2 years or more.

CBD oil has specific benefits in certain conditions for children and adolescents. Various researchers claim that the use of CBD oil in children has benefits such as improved focus, better memory, higher daytime alertness, less provocative behavior and increased immune function.

On the other side of the scale there are really no limitations. Many CBD products have been found to be effective in treating diseases caused by old age, including diseases such as Alzheimer’s, Parkinson’s and other types of dementia. For very old people there is also an approach that claims that it is better to use isolated products and not full spectrum, in order to avoid psychoactive effects.
